Michelle is a self proclaimed local food systems innovator, passionate about cultivating community through sustainable agriculture. Currently the Development Director of the Valley Food Partnership, she facilitates collaborations between Western Slope producers, local government, and community organizations to grow healthy, vibrant communities, economies and futures by connecting local farms to forks. She is driven by inclusive and innovative solutions for communities to create change. Her primary projects are:
-Developing the Western Slope Food Hub in downtown Montrose
-Producer coordination for Local Farmacy Rx
-Igniting the Eat Local Eat Healthy restaurant initiative
-Resource Development and long term planning
-Partner communications, web and social media development,
Growing our food system empowers us to radically engage with our deepest values, feeding our bodies and souls. Conversations about food are conversations about health, environment, economies, community, and family: we free ourselves when we feed ourselves. Her work has been greatly inspired by the visionary work of Grand Aspirations, empowering young people around the world to be solutionaries; building the green economy through principles of community, sustainability, justice, and prosperity.
